Planned Parenthood reported a 900% increase in requests for intrauterine devices (IUDs) in the first week after November 6, 2016. The device has since come to be understood by many young people in the US as the most politically resilient contraceptive method on the market. At the same time, a history of deadly design flaws and experimentation on marginalized communities complicates the significance of the IUD beyond the power of its influence on a new generation. Insert Yourself is a feature length documentary investigating the current societal context surrounding the politically charged and historically fraught IUD.
